Welcoming New Faculty – John Young, MD

Please join us in welcoming John Young, MD, as a new faculty member in the Department of Surgery.

John Young, MD
Associate Surgeon, Division of Thoracic Surgery

Dr. Young graduated from Harvard University and obtained his medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He completed a general surgery residency at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and a cardiovascular and thoracic surgery fellowship at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. He most recently completed a minimally invasive thoracic surgery fellowship at the Brigham. He is board certified in general surgery.

In 2007, Dr. Young was an American Gastroenterological Association student research fellow at the Brigham in the lab of Stanley W. Ashley, MD, and Ali Tavakkoli, MD.

Dr. Young’s research interests include immunology, lung transplantation and thoracic oncology. His clinical areas of interest include all aspects of adult general thoracic surgery, end-stage lung disease, lung transplantation, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), as well as utilization of the robotic surgical platform.
