Welcoming New Faculty – James Yoo, MD

Please join us in welcoming James Yoo, MD, as a new faculty member in the Department of Surgery.

James Yoo, MD
Associate Surgeon, Division of General and Gastrointestinal Surgery

Dr. Yoo is a graduate of Brown University and received his medical degree from Mt. Sinai School of Medicine. He completed a residency in General Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center followed by a fellowship in Colon & Rectal Surgery at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

Most recently, Dr. Yoo was chief of the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery and vice chair of the Department of Surgery at Tufts Medical Center. Prior to joining Tufts, he was chief of Colon & Rectal Surgery and co-director of the Colorectal Cancer Program at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.

Dr. Yoo is board certified by the America Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. He serves as associate editor of the Journal of Surgical Research.

His research and clinical interests include: inflammatory bowel disease, colon and rectal cancer, minimally invasive surgical approaches, the tumor microenvironment and colitis-associated cancer.
